AfBSA Council - Summary

The Council shall be the governing body of the association. The members shall be the President, the Vice President the Honorary Secretary, The Honorary Treasurer, the immediate Past-President, and five Councilors. Each term of office shall begin at the close of the annual Biological Safety Conference.

The Council shall meet at the Annual General Meeting of the association and at such other times as deemed necessary by the President for the transaction of Council business. A quorum of the Council for the transaction of business at its meetings, or in the interim by telephone or by mail, shall consist of at least six council members. In the event of a tie vote, the President shall break the tie. In the absence of the President, the decision on a tie vote shall be made by the senior ranking officer who is present. The ranking of the Council after the President is the Vice President and then Honorary Secretary.

The Council shall be responsible for the strategic planning of the organization. Such plans shall be reviewed by the Council on an annual basis.
